'...a
pint of Ben and Jerry's and cheddar cheese...'
I was raised macrobiotically, went on my own ways for a little
while, and now I am returning (I am 21). I have read a bunch
of stuff, know how to cook pretty well, and have made an effort
(successfully) to eat a whole grain and a vegetable in every
meal for the past two weeks. I am getting miso soup in about
3x a week, and bancha tea almost every day. This is all going
fine, except for my almost daily killer craving/binge. .....

The
effects of Pressure Cooking
There doesn't seem to be a lot of discussion about the healthy
use of pressure cookers in macrobiotics. That is that rice
cooked for a long time in a pressure cooker actually engenders
a feeling of constant hunger and subsequently guilt. Surely
this needs addressing. What is your experience?

Eat
Locally Grown Foods?
I'm a little confused because I understand that one should

to eat miso, umeboshi, and other Japanese foods, which seems
a contradiction to me, unless I've misunderstood...

and make you feel that they are only related to food intake?

Questioning
"The Cancer Prevention Diet"
My opinion is: the macrobiotic diet is a good diet that can
prevent heart disease. However, when it comes to cancer, the
simple fact is that people get cancer who have faithfully followed
the diet for decades. Would anyone care to comment?

Is
Corn Oil unhealthy to use in your cooking ?
"It is a major error to put corn oil among the healthy
macrobiotic oils to consume regularly. Corn oil is too high
in polyunsaturates to be healthy and when it is heated, it becomes
toxic."

Do we need to eat so many Japanese macrobiotic
products?
Q&A's: Do we need
to eat Japanese foods in order to be eating a macrobiotic diet
? Can people overdo on Japanese macrobiotic products ? Is it
profits before what people really need? Isn't macrobiotics about
living from local foods and resources ?

Macrobiotics
and Rickets
Q&A's Over
the years, rickets has been a concern to some parents in the
macrobiotic community. For the vast majority, it has not been
an issue because their families were observing a balanced diet,
with plenty of scope and variety...
