Q How did you start with macrobiotics?
A I was a lacto ovo vegetarian who didn't feel
or look healthy. I knew there must be a better way
to live and balance my food choices. I started taking
classes at the Natural Gourmet Cooking School to improve
my skills and learn about sea vegetables, legumes,
etc and I took a couple of classes at the Kushi Institute.
I immediately noticed a positive change in how I looked
and felt.
Then I found Denny Waxman and the
Strengthening Health Institute and my practice really
took off! I studied with Denny ( and continue to work
with his school) for 4 years.
Q How has macrobiotics helped
you?
A I am fortunate to enjoy excellent physical
health without any of the problems, especially menopausal,
that so many of my non-macro friends seem to have.
I also feel very flexible on an emotional plane.
Life is not always easy and the
world situation is unstable, but I feel confident
in my outlook and my ability to maintain balance in
the midst of everything. Emotional balance, physical
health and spiritual awareness are the great gifts
to me from macrobiotics.
Q What do you offer and specialise
in?
A I am a macrobiotic counselor, I teach cooking,
I offer occasional personal cooking services, and
I host senior Macrobiotic teachers in NYC for cooking
classes.I use my former skills in sales and marketing
to help other Macrobiotic practitioners develop their
markets.
Q What one piece of advice would you give to someone
trying macrobiotics for the first time?
A I would like to offer 2:- Macrobiotic is
about progress not perfection -the format as to how
we eat and our lifestyle pratices are as important
as the food we eat.
